Cinematographer and Filmmaker
Filmmaking is my lifelong passion. I've written numerous scripts and worked on various short films with fellow filmmakers, and throughout this journey, I've found my true calling behind the camera.
Having gained valuable experience on sets in roles like Cinematographer, AC, and more, I've developed a comprehensive understanding of the camera department. This diverse background enables me to approach each project with a well-rounded perspective.
I'm always eager to take on new projects, collaborating with directors to bring their visions to life. Additionally, working on my own projects allows me to express my creative freedom in a way that feels authentic to me.
The Serious Stuff
“Over the Rainbow”
Drama
Director - Mia Wiles
Cinematographer - Flynn Shuttlewood
Shot in the peak district on the ARRI LF Mini this was such a fun film to work on getting to visit new places while working with a great cast and crew the story came to life effortlessly.
The story follows a trio of estranged siblings, Kira, Chelsea and Roy as they find out that there is more than one adoption story in the family and more lies than they knew …
“Stealth”
Drama
Director - Ashley Copp
Cinematographer - Flynn Shuttlewood
Shot in Norwich on the ARRI LF Mini this film was a beautiful story to put into visualisation. Taking colourful expressive lighting and then contrasting it with the opposite to show our two main characters James and Tony was a highlight for me.
The story follows James, a trans man, who after an eye-opening second puberty, struggles to navigate the vicious lad culture that now ravages his work life …
“Sugar & Spite”
Drama
Director - Olivia Duckmanton
Cinematographer - Flynn Shuttlewood
Shot in Norwich on the ARRI LF Mini this film was a touching story to put into visualisation. Taking colourful lighting and then contrasting it with a jarring camera at times this would all help build on the visual language of the film.
The story follows Amy, who has been targeted by numerous men while dealing with the trauma of her sexual assault. She is determined to seek justice for what the men did to her and embarks down a dark path of revenge…
“Wild Things”
Drama
Director - Elizebeth Cumberly
Cinematographer - Flynn Shuttlewood
Shot in a campsite in Norfolk this film was certainly a challenge camping out in a field for four days especially for a first time camper like me but it was great fun and an excellent experience. Shooting only on a Canon DSLR we didn’t have the best camera but I feel we really pushed ourselves to create something beautiful.
A story of female rage. Set in 1901, Wild Things focuses on the experiences of four sisters and their encounter with 3 ill intended young men. The film discusses themes of feminine strength and what happens when you mess with the wrong sisters ...
“Please Don’t Feed The Pigeons”
Documentary
Director - Grace Herbert
Cinematographer - Flynn Shuttlewood
Shot around Norwich with just one lens a DSLR and a gimbal I wanted to experiment in the documentary field making a short simple doc about something we all either love or hate. Pigeons.
We went around filming the scenic surroundings of Norwich and the pigeons that rule it, conducting a few small interviews to use over the top of what aims to be a non intrusive reflective and observational documentary.
The Not So Serious Stuff
“RoboSlut”
Skit
Directed, Shot and Everything else By Flynn Shuttlewood
Being a lover of science fiction yet understanding how expensive sci-fi can be to make I wanted to make a short, comedic, trashy film about a robot. Following the main character after they shout some abuse at their computer and are eventually sucked into it.
I had so much fun making the costume for this film and shooting it on a Canon C500. I worked with some of my closest creative friends and although it’s unconventional. It still slays in its own little way.
“Egg To The Power of Cake”
Skit
Directed, Shot and Everything else by Flynn Shuttlewood
From the odd occasions I have taken to doing some baking I have always wondered when a recipe states you need medium eggs, but you only have large eggs what are you to do. What maths equation converts medium eggs to large eggs how many medium eggs goes into one large egg. I guess we will never know.
This film explores this idea with the key focus being on the wide lens close up to add to the comedic drama of it. This film was shot on a Canon DSLR with my trusty gimbal again.
“The Nugadict”
Skit
Directed, Shot and Everything else by Flynn Shuttlewood
What are you when you are addicted to something - an addict. When that thing you are addict to is chicken nuggets I guess that would make you a Nugadict right? This film follows are protagonist the Nugadict as we see her struggle with loneliness and addiction, she is left to suffer on her own with no one around her for support.
This film explores this idea with the key focus being on the lighting to add to the comedic drama of it. This film was shot on a Canon DSLR all in one evening.
Coming Soon …
I am currently in the pre-production stages of my next short film. “Gypsy Queen”. The script is getting nearer to completion, locations are being sorted along with cast and crew so watch this space …
The story follows Gypsy, a manic drag queen who is going on an LSD fuelled journey to find what she wants from her life.
Inspired by the fabulous John Waters and Divine films I aim to create my own original story but with little hints at where it came from.
